JoyRiders are now Bikeability Providers (704638A). We're offering to pilot RIDE! for local authorities wanting an Active Travel game-changer.
In 2022, JoyRiders ran a very successful program funded by The Bikeability Trust's Widening Participation fund over 6-months.
Around 80% of kids in UK cities don't do Bikeability at school - they don't own a bike and they can't already ride... our RIDE! programme was aimed at teaching families to ride together. Underpinning modal shift choices - targeting those who do not ride at all now, frequently from ethnic minority and / or deprived communities.
In one location, over 6-months JoyRiders:
- 618 unique individuals in 304 family groups – our target audience - unlimited sessions were allowed - 1602 total attendances at:
- 110 Learn to Ride / Basic Cycle Skills sessions
- 15 Intermediate Cycle Skills Sessions
- 9 Advanced Cycle Skills sessions, and
- 28 Led Rides - practice, practice, practice
Bikes were provided for everyone - and the programme also includes comprehensive outreach before and during its entirety.
